Marguerite YOURCENAR
"The best remedy for mental turmoil is learning. It is the only thing that never deteriorates. One may grow old and tremble, in the anatomical sense of the word; one may lie awake at night listening to the disorder in one's veins; one may lose one's only love and see one's fortune vanish because of a monster; we may contemplate the world around us devastated by dangerous madmen, or know that our honour is trampled in the sewers of the most vile minds. In such conditions, there is only one thing to do: learn."
